George Latchford

Test Engineer

"It’s nice to be back at an agile company that moves quickly and gets things done. It reminds me of the early days of Blue Origin."

George led a colored life before landing at Avalanche in 2022. Out of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was part of a nuclear deterrent Titan missile crew before attending Purdue University for a brief stint to study electrical engineering.

He moved to Seattle in 1997, where he worked in seafloor mapping for six years and then became one of the first twenty employees at Blue Origin.

George worked on many projects during his 18 years at Blue Origin, including early-stage facilities and test stands, Launch Site One in Texas, and various engine testing.

At Avalanche, George’s role as a test engineer sees him overseeing test infrastructure across the company’s various prototypes.

George loves to road and mountain bike, as well as sail - pre-covid, George sailed from the Puget Sound to the Desolation Sound in Canada almost every year.
