Erik McKee

Electrical Engineer and Plasma Physicist

"The culture at Avalanche is really focused on innovating around hard ideas. Between my time in the shop and my time hiking, skiing, climbing, and enjoying the outdoors, I couldn’t ask for a better place."

Erik spent much of his life in sunny, dry Reno, NV before pursuing greener pastures in the Pacific Northwest.

Erik studied physics and earned a Ph.D. with a focus on plasma physics at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he also worked with a number of ARP-E-funded companies focused on nuclear fusion.

A job with Helion Energy punched his one-way ticket to Seattle, where he worked on plasma diagnostics and confinement schemes, before joining Avalanche in 2021 as a physicist and electrical engineer.

In his role at Avalanche, Erik works on diagnostics, electronics, pulse magnetic fields and experiments.
