Daniel Velazquez

Physicist

"I really enjoy the fast-paced, dynamic work environment at Avalanche,” said Daniel. “Because nuclear fusion is such a challenging field of study, everybody at Avalanche is multidisciplinary and knows how to come together to work as a team."

Daniel is a Physicist at Avalanche focusing on the development of the cathode and systems diagnostics.

Daniel earned a Ph.D. in Accelerator/Condensed-matter Physics from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

After which he spent a year as a postdoctoral appointee at Argonne National Lab where he worked on the development of novel nuclear fuel materials and simultaneously contributed to the design, assembly, and commissioning of the largest hard x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy system in the western hemisphere at the time.

He fell in love with the diversity of landscapes across the Pacific Northwest after moving to Seattle in 2016 and likes to spend his free time exploring backroads and shooting astrophotography.
